Backup of Exchange Server 5.5 Information Store
I need to stop and then restart the Exchange services every night to allow for the information store to be backed up. I would imagine there are scripts that will do this very thing? I can't find anything in Exchange itself to allow this.
I have very little experience with Exchange so any help would be appreciated.

I have always used backup applications that are written to specifically backup Exchange 5.5. If you really want to write a script, you can use the net stop service name to run before the backup program starts. Then create a second batch file with net start service name. Make sure you stop and restart all services that depend on the Information store. If you need more help on net start, just type it at the command prompt followed by a ?

micro$oft have improved the exchange backup in sbs2k, and even added an easy scheduler.
